   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to Holiday Acres Resort.  As autumn approaches we begin a special time of preparation.  We begin  to say good bye to hot summer days and to the mosquitoes.  Many consider it truly as the best time to appreciate the wonders of the north woods…..
 If we keep winter in front of us we won’t forget to enjoy every moment we can get outside before the cold sets in.  You may want to take a walk along the Long Lake nature trail, stroll by the waters of Lake Thompson, or a bike ride down the old farm road.
Stop by our Turn of the Century gift shop and take your coupon with for 15% off clothing. Don’t forget about your YMCA discount pass. If you did not get one be sure to ask for one at the front desk.
 Northern lights are brilliant this time of year. We highly recommend the food, too.  Please enjoy your stay.
             This fabled horned beast was created in 1896 by pioneer and lumberman Gene Shepard.  Shepard
             snapped  its picture just before this fierce and frightening monster sprang at him from a white pine
             log.  A hairy animal, seven feet long and thirty inches tall, glared ferociously from the photograph –
             copies of which still can be seen.  Its backbone bristled with a dozen gleaming white horns, and
             wicked looking tusks hung menacingly from its vise-like jaws.
