Where is the closest laundry mat?
There are 3 laundry mats in town for you to choose from, all are about 4 miles away.
Can I bring my furry friend to the resort?
Absolutely! 🐾 Your furry friends are welcome here. You can bring up to two pets per room or cottage. While most cottages and some Lodge Rooms are pet-friendly (except #31 Weisswood), Vacation Homes, Cedar Lodge, and Big Pine Lodge are not. There's a pet fee of $25 per night or $150 per week per pet. Just let us know when booking, and we'll make sure everything's set for your stay.
Do the cottages come with a boat?
Yes, they do! 🚤 Each cottage comes with its very own aluminum rowboat and oars for you to enjoy during your stay. You'll find the rowboat at your cottage's pier (some piers are shared), ready for your lake adventures or to dock your own boat.
What amenities are included in the cottages?
Our cottages are fully equipped to make your stay comfortable and convenient. You'll find full-size refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, coffee makers, toasters, and all the cookware and utensils you need. Outside, enjoy an aluminum rowboat at your pier, a picnic table, and a charcoal grill. We provide all bath towels, bedding linens, toilet paper, and paper towels. Plus, you have access to all rentals and full use of the pool and sauna.
What essentials should I pack for my getaway?
To make your getaway as smooth as possible, here’s a handy packing list: aspirin/Tylenol, batteries, beach towels, charcoal, coffee, a DVD player, a first aid kit, a flashlight, games, grilling utensils, a hair dryer, mosquito repellent, napkins, paper plates, plastic silverware, playing cards & dice, a phone charger, a razor, sunscreen, and sunglasses. With these essentials, you’re all set for a comfy and fun-filled escape!
Where can I grab firewood at the resort?
You can snag firewood right here at the resort! 🌲 To protect our beautiful Northwoods from invasive species, we kindly ask that you don't bring firewood from outside the area. Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all cottages, vacation homes, and lodge rooms. Due to our Northwoods location, internet speeds may vary depending on weather, network traffic, and your location on the property.
Do the cottages have air conditioning?
Our historic cottages were designed for summer living in the Northwoods and most do not have air conditioning. Each cottage includes at least one box fan, and cool evening temperatures often make for comfortable sleeping.
Air conditioning is available in Cottage #20 Windsong and Cottage #24 Oriole. All lodge rooms and vacation homes include air conditioning.
What can I rent while I stay?
During the warmer months, we offer a variety of outdoor equipment for your enjoyment, including bikes, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), rowboats, motorboats, and pontoons. Please note, there is an additional fee for these rentals.
For some fun on land, we also provide complimentary access to basketballs, volleyballs, shuffleboard, tennis rackets and balls, pickleballs, and golf balls and putters. Simply visit the Front Desk to sign them out.
In the winter months, we offer snowshoes and cross-country skis for rent to explore the scenic trails right here on the property.
Is Lake Thompson a wake-free zone?
No. The lake remains open for traditional recreational boating, including fishing, cruising, water skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. The Town of Pelican's ordinance is intended to reduce artificially enhanced wakes that can contribute to shoreline erosion and impact lake health.
We encourage all guests to help preserve the beauty of Lake Thompson by boating responsibly and respecting the wildlife, waterways, and natural shoreline that make the Northwoods so special.
Can I bring my own boat to Lake Thompson?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own boat. We recommend contacting us ahead of time so we can talk through dock space, trailer parking, and the best arrival plan for your stay.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Anyone age 16 or older must have a valid Wisconsin fishing license to fish on Lake Thompson and most Wisconsin waters.Fishing licenses can be purchased online through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), at many local retailers, or through the Wisconsin Go Wild licensing system.Please review current Wisconsin fishing regulations before heading out on the water.https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Fishing/outreach/FishingLicenses
What fish can I catch in Lake Thompson?
Lake Thompson is home to a variety of species including musky, northern pike, walleye, bass, panfish, and perch. Be sure to review current Wisconsin fishing regulations for size limits and seasonal restrictions.
